NTC has extensive experience in building Norway's most energy-efficient data centres
Since 2006, NTC Services AS(NTC) has designed, delivered, installed, operated and provided service to data centers throughout Norway – with maximum energy efficiency and sustainability in mind. Even back then, we achieved a Power Usage Efficiency (PUE) in the data centers of 1.26 with the simplest measures, installation of InRow coolers with encapsulated hot zone.

Today we can get below 1.1 in PUE with Rear Door Heat Exchangers, Direct Water Cooling or Immersion Cooling. There is no longer a practical upper limit on the actual load in the computer racks, today we have solutions that handle up to 200kW per rack, if the project has hardware that requires that type of capacity, such as in connection with High Performance Computing (HPC). In our self-built colocation centre, we currently have a PUE of 1.19.

Do you need to rent a data center?
NTC supplies complete turnkey data centers

NTC builds complete, turnkey data centers. We mainly deliver to the SME market and up to a few Mega Watt total loads in the projects. We build either in a modular design in a container or prefabricated format, or into existing buildings. The latter has the advantage that you then get a much lower consumption of steel and concrete, which has a very favorable impact on the projects’ CO2 accounts.

Several of our customers have also largely checked out and used the market on the second-hand market for racks, PDUs and other equipment which not only provides a favorable entry cost in the project, but also contributes strongly to the circular economy.

WHY CHOOSE NORWAY?

Climate, an average temperature year over year is 6 degrees Celsius, this makes cooling a lot easier and more environment friendly. In the winter, minus 20 degrees Celsius is common. This improves the PUE and makes the data center more sustainable.

Sustainability, 98 percent of the energy produced in Norway is renewable, the normal energy mix is a little lower, due to some export and import, but Norway is the country with the highest share of renewable energy in the world. 100% Renewable energy can be arranged.

Economy, energy prices in Norway has historically been very low compared to the rest of Europe, and they still are. This can make a significant difference.

Stability. Norway has been a country with political stability, even if governments change, the differences is not great. Being a part of NATO, and situated in a quiet part of Europe, Norway is considered a safe country.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We preferably sell whole racks, but feel free to ask us, we always have some free space for customers who need less than this.

It will depend on how many kilowatts of load will be installed into the rack. It will determine the price that contains the following:

  • 2 power strips for A and B power, 2 x 16Amp 1-phase = 3,680W load redundant
  • 2 power strips for A and B power, 2 x 32Amp 1-phase = 7,360W load redundant
  • 2 power strips for A and B power, 2 x 16Amp 3-phase = 11kW load redundant
  • 2 power strips for A and B power, 2 x 32Amp 3-phase = 22kW load redundant
  • In special cases, the customer wants 2 x A + 2 x B supply, we have racks that are adapted to that need.
  • All the power rails are minimum managed, i.e. we can centrally read the rack’s loads and possibly identify bias loads.
  • 1pc rack, either 42U high, 60cm wide, 120cm deep, or 42U high, 80cm wide, 120cm deep.
  • 1pc Fiber A and 1pc Fiber B up to the rack, other needs are priced and installed in addition by NTC.
  • Power supply from A and B UPS, supplied with power from a unit that starts automatically in the event of a power failure.
  • Fire extinguishing included.
  • Access control included.
  • 24/7 monitoring included.
  • Separation from other customers as required.
  • Access for customers who receive an access card.
To date, we have never had downtime in our colocation data center. In other words, we deliver an SLA with an uptime of 99.999% or better in practice. Five nines means downtime of a maximum of 5 minutes and 13 seconds per year. The fact that we actually have no downtime at all is due to our design with a high degree of redundancy on the power supply and cooling systems. (N+1 or 2N) The above also requires a strict service regime on critical components, which will be at least annually. An example of this would be annual service and maintenance on the diesel generator and we have imposed on ourselves a monthly full-scale test to check that everything works 100% as it should.
